Build the Strength to Overcome

Okay, new year, new opportunity to be your best on the courts! And that starts with having the strength to do what you want for as long as you need to out there.

So for those of you that are not already in a weight lifting program (if you are, keep pushing it), you need to be working 5 days a week.  Here is your minimum requirement, 50 pushups a day and 100 crunches.  Now they don't need to be all at once, you can spread it out over the day if you need to.  There are many different positions for pushups and for crunches, so try as many as you want, but make the goal of 5 days a week!

Also starting this week is Thursday Squat Day! Yeah! Every Thursday we need to do a squat workout.  These are body-weight only squats!  No added weights.  Start as low as you need to, doing 4 sets.  I recommend starting with 4 sets of 20 reps.  Each week do 4 sets but increase the reps.  Keep going up until you reach 4 sets of 100 reps, then do that level for 4 weeks in a row.  After that you can start adding weights into the program.  You must have a strong base to play this game well!

To all your success in 2010!

  2. I have been waching the Australian Open and i really wish it was spring tennis. I have been getting out and playing whenever there is no snow on the courts. Once your back from California for the spring season i will defenately be ready to play and compete.
